ACAC has produced key advice to help employers in the UK understand better the role of the tellers, or redundancy envoys as they are called in the research.
The advice is now included in a new section in the Redundancy Handling Booklet.
The updated booklet places the role of the teller within the overall context of managing redundancies effectively – from trying to avoid job losses through to help with finding other work.
The new advice includes:
• The importance of selecting the right person for the role of teller
• How employers should support the tellers
• And why the role involves much more than having a difficult conversation
This advice is of benefit to both the Ni and the RoI employer who is considering downsizing the workforce.
