In a previous BLOG titled : “Minister Bruton publishes legislation to reform JLC/REA systems but will we see a fairer REA system?” we informed readers of legislation enacted to reform the Employment Regulation Orders (ERO`s) created by the Joint Labour Committees (JLC`s) and Registered Employment Agreements operating in the Republic of Ireland. Orders were awaited subsequent to an announcement by the Minister on the 1st October 2013.
The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, signed Orders on the 29th January 2013, giving effect to recommendations contained in that Labour Court Review. The move is part of an overall process that will reduce the number of JLCs by half.

While SIPTU and MANDATE welcomed the news that the Establishment Orders for the JLCs have been signed one must await the response of the employers`organizations to see if they greet the announcement with similar joy.
