Frequently, clients on one side of the border wish to acquire a property, such as a domestic dwelling, a farm or an investment property on the other side of the border. In the last decade, it has become increasingly common for our clients to do an equity release or offer an existing property on one side of the border as security to a lender in order to finance a purchase on the other side of the border. This might involve an equity release of property located in the Republic of Ireland, the proceeds of which are used to acquire a property in Northern Ireland or vice versa.
